Pulaki Temple

47.3 km from Mumbul

Pulaki Temple (Pura Pulaki) is a significant Hindu temple located near Pemuteran, on the northern coast of Bali. It is renowned for its stunning location, spiritual significance, and close interaction with nature.
Pulaki Temple is located in the village of Banyupoh, near Pemuteran, about 50 kilometers west of Lovina, along the coastal road. It’s nestled between the cliffs and the sea, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

The temple’s backdrop of dramatic cliffs and its proximity to the sea create a serene and picturesque environment. The temple overlooks the waters of the Bali Sea, and the surrounding area is lush with greenery.
Pulaki Temple is dedicated to Lord Dewa Melanting, a manifestation of Vishnu who is regarded as the protector of the temple and a deity of wealth and prosperity. Many locals come here to pray for success in business and agriculture.

One of the distinctive features of Pulaki Temple is the large number of monkeys that inhabit the area. The monkeys are believed to be the temple’s guardians. They roam freely around the temple grounds, and while they are a fun sight, visitors should be cautious as they can be mischievous, especially if food is involved.

Visitors can observe the monkeys, but it’s advised not to feed them or carry food, as they may try to snatch it.
Pulaki Temple features traditional Balinese temple architecture, with intricately carved stone gates, shrines, and statues. The black volcanic stone used in the construction gives the temple a unique and ancient look.

As a functioning temple, there are areas designated for prayer, and visitors are asked to dress respectfully (sarongs and sashes are usually required and can be rented at the entrance).
From the temple, you can enjoy stunning views of the ocean and the surrounding mountains. The combination of the sacred atmosphere and natural beauty creates a peaceful and spiritual environment.
Pulaki Temple is less crowded than some of the more tourist-heavy temples in Bali, making it an ideal spot for reflection and quiet.
