Sekumpul Waterfall, located in the Singaraja region of North Bali, is often considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Bali. Nestled deep in the lush rainforest near the village of Sekumpul, it’s known for its stunning multi-tiered cascades and the serene, natural setting.
The Sekumpul area is famous for its cluster of seven waterfalls, with the main two being the tallest and most striking. These waterfalls cascade from a height of about 80 meters (260 feet), creating a spectacular visual display, especially during the rainy season when the flow is stronger.
The multiple streams of water falling from the cliffs provide a dramatic and picturesque scene.
Reaching Sekumpul requires a bit of effort, as it involves a trek through lush jungles, rice terraces, and local villages. The trek is moderately challenging, with some steep sections and a series of steps to navigate.
You’ll also need to cross a shallow river to get to the base of the waterfall. Be prepared to get your feet wet, and it’s advisable to wear good trekking shoes or water sandals.
The hike itself is part of the experience, offering stunning views of the surrounding rice terraces, coconut trees, and tropical rainforest. Along the way, you’ll also pass through traditional Balinese villages, giving you a glimpse of local life.
Once you reach the falls, the sight of the water plunging into a pool surrounded by lush greenery creates a peaceful, otherworldly atmosphere.
At the base of the main waterfalls, there is a natural pool where you can take a refreshing swim. The water is cool and crystal clear, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings after the hike.
A guide can provide insights into the area, assist with the trek, and show you the safest routes, especially when crossing rivers.
The local community also benefits from tourism, so hiring a guide is a great way to support the local economy.
